Shadow Pandemic: Hidden Voices

As part of the international project Shadow Pandemic: Hidden Voices, the Maribor Theatre Festival is organizing a series of free theatre workshops for young people aged 14-18. Are you interested in a comprehensive insight into the making of a play, from following the artistic team during their study preparations to the behind-the-scenes production processes, followed by a viewing of the play and a discussion with the creators? Through five thematically linked/follow-up workshops, you will be guided by the dramaturge of the project Ivana Vuković and theatre pedagogue, mentor and director Mateja Kokol. Join them and learn about the processes of creating a theatre performance.

The first workshop, a get-to-know-you meeting for all applicants and an introduction to the theme of the open call for the selection of new plays, will take place on Wednesday, 23 November 2022, between 4 pm and 6 pm at the Komorni oder of the SNG Maribor.

The two-year international project Shadow Pandemic: Hidden Voices is carried out by the Maribor Theater Festival in cooperation with the Zagreb Youth Theatre and the Belgrade Drama Theatre. It addresses the problem of violence against women during the closure of public life due to the coronavirus pandemic. The main aim of the project is to raise awareness of this issue among the general public and youth through a series of project activities, including an open call for new plays, a series of five workshops with young people, and a theatrical performance of the plays selected in the open call, directed by theatre director Selma Spahić. Co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme with financial support from the European Commission.
