There are four of us. Two of us occupy a space between dance and circus, while the other two, trained actors, aspire to act and move. Our theatre-dance history is short, and our future is probably even shorter because the world is not tailored to culture. So excuse us, some people know how to drop bombs, others know everything about everything, and we, well, we put on shows. The Kafkaesque humour permeating our stage dynamics contains no puns, witty jokes, bitter bitching about bodily functions or sexual innuendos, none of Pynchon’s banana-peel or greedy polyp-filled burlesque, no Rothian satire or Barthesian meta-parody, nor Woody Allen’s sharp sarcasm. There are none of thetwists found in contemporary situational comedies, "over-smart" children, profane grandparents or benign revolutionary hipsters. Kafka’s characters are never just fools to be mocked but are instead absurd, frightening and sad. They taught us that the "I" is simply something we possess. But they never mentioned that we must imagine the art of ego as a door. So, we come to these doors and knock because we not only want but need to enter.
